Valna (Val) Wilson has been in law enforcement for nearly 29 years. She retired as a Lieutenant/Bureau Commander with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 2009, and remained with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department as a Reserve Deputy until her recent separation in 2012.  Val came to POST in January 2012 as a Senior Consultant and was assigned to the Training Delivery and Compliance Bureau.

Val has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Irvine.  She attended Chapman University’s Organizational Leadership/Servant Leadership Institute.  In addition, she completed both POST Police Management and Executive Management Development Courses. Val has a number of other completed certificated training which include the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, the National Interagency Civil-Military Institute, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
