Introduction to Course Certification

This workshop will address various aspects of course certification. The components for course certification start from the training needs assessment to submission of course rosters upon completion of the presentation. Relevant POST regulations, the course modification process, and the Resume Builder/Manager functions will also be discussed.

Developing a Training Plan

This workshop is designed to assist training managers in the development and implementation of an agency training plan. Attendees will receive a broad overview of how to begin the process of developing a training plan. There will also be a discussion of obstacles they may encounter when implementing the plan.

How Legislation Can Affect Law Enforcement & POST Training

This session will focus on the 2020 legislative climate in Sacramento. It will provide information on newly enacted and pending legislation that could potentially affect POST and law enforcement training. There will also be an overview of the legislative process.

POST and Background Investigation Update

This session is designed to provide background investigators with an update on background investigation requirements and a "how-to" from a POST consultant's perspective. Also, will provide a short overview on recent POST amendments regarding regulations, bulletins and projects.

New to the role of training manager? This presentation will provide a broad overview of POST. Topics covered will include POST regulations and resources, the role of the training manager, components of a compliance review, mandated training, and the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).

POST Regulations and Legislative Mandates

This workshop will provide training managers with an overview of the peace officer training required by POST Commission regulations and legislative mandates. Additional topics that will be discussed include POST regulations involving certificates, Notice of Appointment/Termination, course certification, and resources to help identify and track the training mandates.

Reimbursement Plans, Procedures and Processes

This workshop is designed for training managers who process their agency’s reimbursement requests for attendees of POST-certified courses. Topics will include the different types of reimbursement plans, Commission Regulation requirements, the submittal process, and State Controller audits. There will also be an overview of the most common errors when submitting Training Reimbursement Requests (TRRs) and Presenter Reimbursement Requests (PRRs).
