And The Emmy Goes to...
June 20, 2013
On June 15, 2013, before a large audience convened in Las Vegas for the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) awards ceremony, the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), and Digital OutPost (DOP), who provides video production services for POST, received an Emmy Award for the Did You Know video “10-97.”
Assistant Executive Director Jan Bullard, prior to her recent promotion, was the Bureau Chief who oversaw POST’s video production efforts. She accepted the award on behalf of the Commission on POST, along with Terry Barnum and Raegan Matthews-Roesink from DOP. The award was for the Community / Public Service (PSAs) category.
While POST has accrued a respectable collection of awards for video production in the past, “Did You Know 10-97” is POST’s first Emmy. The “Did You Know” SAFE Driving video series has been met with acclaim nationwide. They are each under three minutes in length which makes them perfect for roll call training. “Did You Know 10-97” reminds officers that unsafe speed is the leading cause of law enforcement fatal and injury collisions.
The “Did You Know?” SAFE Driving series includes videos on seatbelt usage, unsafe vehicle speed, fatigue and distraction. They are available for viewing and download on the SAFE Driving Campaign video page and the POST Learning Portal. Stay tuned for future “Did You Know?” videos on the topics of courageous conversations and nighttime driving.
Congratulations to the staff of Learning Technology Resources Bureau and Digital OutPost for this significant accomplishment and national recognition.
Wear your seatbelt, watch your speed, and practice SAFE driving!
The SAFE Driving Campaign is a POST initiative focused on reducing fatal and serious injury law enforcement traffic collisions nationwide. For further information regarding the SAFE Driving Campaign, visit the SAFE Driving Campaign on the POST Website or contact:
