Library Services and Collections
Our online catalog provides access to all POST library holdings--books, ebooks, government documents and reports, journals, Command College papers, and Master Instructor projects--in one place.
Research Services and Instruction
The POST library and research center staff is available for custom research or consultation on projects. To initiate a research request, complete the Research Services Request Form. We serve POST staff researchers and peace officers throughout California. POST librarians give instruction on law enforcement research, copyright, and other topics.
Full Service Library
POST library materials are loaned directly to POST staff only. External researchers may borrow materials using interlibrary loan (ILL) through their own public or university libraries. Photocopying and scanning services are available. We can fax articles to your email. Our hours are: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; closed on state holidays. Visitors may schedule an appointment to use the library services.
The POST library retains historical documents from the Commission, along with all versions of the Basic Training materials, job analysis, and other POST publications. These materials do not circulate. Freedom of Information Act (California FOIA) may be requested or subpoenaed.
The POST library maintains the registrations of copyright on all POST materials. POST publications may not be linked to or published on non-POST Websites. Use of the POST logo is prohibited.
