POST produces a wide variety of publications designed to enhance the professionalism of California law enforcement. All publications are researched and developed by work groups comprised of POST staff and subject matter resource staff.  They are sanctioned by the POST Commission prior to release.

POST has refined K-9 guidelines which have been in use for more than a decade. Recognizing that agencies now use canines in specialized capacities, POST has determined that it would not attempt to standardize all functions. Instead, these guidelines recommend minimum training and evaluation benchmarks for K-9 Patrol and detection functions.
