Course Description

Attend this seminar and be prepared for DSM-5® changes that incorporate new understanding of diagnostic categories and may require rediagnosis of patients whose long standing diagnoses simply disappear, or reassign diagnoses to categories with different reimbursement implications.

Course Objectives

• Describe the new structure of the DSM-5® diagnostic process and new classification system.;• Incorporate new DSM® standards of dimensional and cross-cutting assessment into your practice.;• List the new conceptualization of substance and addiction related diagnoses.;• Recognize ethical issues posed by DSM-5® changes and how they will impact your practice.;• Describe dramatic changes to gender and neurocognitive diagnoses.;• Use effectively the significantly expanded trauma diagnoses.;• Distinguish the more restrictive Autistic Spectrum Disorder criteria.;• Incorporate risk assessment more precisely into the diagnostic process.;• Identify over-diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder in children.
