Course Description

This training will discuss prevalence and cross cultural data related to lying; basic premises of lie detection; developmental aspects of deception; non-verbal cues to detecting deception; verbal and linguistic cues to detecting deception; psychometric indications of deception. The training will include descriptions of the theory behind various methods of detecting deception, the empirical data on reliability of these methods, and interviewing techniques designed to assist in detecting deception in the context of pre-employment screening.

Course Objectives

The attendee will be able to:Describe at least 2 principles of lie detection;- Identify at least 3 written statement indications of untruthfulness;- Define at least two interview techniques that aid in detecting deception.
