Course Description

This intermediate-level workshop is designed for licensed psychologists interested in conducting preemployment evaluations of peace officer candidates using the MMPI-2-RF. Topics covered include legal foundations, best practices, use of the evidence-based MMPI-2-RF Police Candidate Interpretive Report (PCIR) in conducting evaluations of peace officer candidates, issues related to culture and gender, data integration, and special considerations in evaluating correctional officer candidates. The use of the PCIR in these assessments will be illustrated by a comprehensive case study in which the report’s findings are integrated with those from the background investigation, mental health records, clinical interview, and other psychological tests.

Course Objectives

Describe cultural relevance and considerations when interpreting the MMPI-2 RF. Discuss special considerations when assessing police and public safety candidates. Describe basic features of the MMPI-2-RF Police Candidate Interpretive Report (PCIR). Discuss ways to integrate PCIR findings with other data sources to reach a suitability determination. Apply the integration model in preemployment psychological evaluations of peace officer candidates.
