Course Description

Successful recruitment relies on collaboration between police departments, background investigators, polygraphers, and psychologists. Insufficient screening creates absences, worker's compensation claims, unstable officers, and unsafe and/or illegal behaviors on the job. A comprehensive pre-employment process limits problematic employees and exposes inconsistencies in applicants' self-report, revealing information that may present risk to the public's safety and teamwork and reliability concerns. Information obtained will identify strengths that allow supervisors to better understand new officer's weaknesses. This presentation will offer best-practice perspectives from professionals involved in each stage of the process.
