Course Description

The training presentation focuses on using the California Psychological Inventory-434 (CPI-434) in law enforcement hiring to assess suitability rather than psychopathology. It highlights ten key dimensions, including social competence, impulse control, and integrity, that predict job performance and long-term employment success. Research shows CPI is more reliable than clinical judgment alone. Case studies illustrate the risks of hiring unsuitable candidates, linking psychological profiles to termination rates. The training also explores bias detection in applicants and emphasizes combining psychological assessments with background investigations to ensure effective hiring decisions.
