Course Description

This course is POST-approved for .5 CPE credit. Police psychologists play a crucial role in helping law enforcement agencies make informed hiring decisions, evaluate officer fitness, enhance crisis response, and support mental health and resilience. They also ensure agencies select personnel best suited for the job’s demands, reducing long-term risks. This presentation will provide practical strategies for integrating psychological expertise into department operations, from recruitment and leadership development to wellness programs and critical incident support. Ethical considerations—including confidentiality, legal compliance, and adherence to IACP guidelines—will be explored to ensure responsible implementation. Attendees will gain tools to enhance officer performance, mitigate risk, and build a stronger, more resilient agency.
