Course Description

A board-certified public safety psychologist doing preemployment screening daily for over a decade and conducting/publishing research and teaching graduate level assessment for years reviews the functional and foundational competencies in employment screening for high-risk occupations. Major topics include test reliability and validity and best practice in test interpretation and data integration. The limitations of testing and assessment will be discussed. Some common cases will be displayed for baseline understanding. Emerging technologies/tools will be reviewed. Contemporary challenges will be outlines. A complex case study will be illustrated for purposes of best practice application. Lastly, skilled reporting and post-hire performance data collection for improvement will be discussed.
