Course Description

This course is POST-approved for .5 CPE credit. U.S. Law Enforcement agencies are experiencing dramatic shifts in the demographics of the candidates and the communities they serve. To this end we propose updating Officer selection and promotion tools to improve Officer performance and community trust. This panel will focus on 1) analyzing how psychographics shifts in candidates and communities impact psychological traits and the need for updated psychological assessments 2) identifying the psychological attributes necessary for effective 21st century policing and how they should be reflected in selection and promotion processes and 3) exploring the development and implementation of advanced psychological assessment tools to enhance officer performance and safety, promote community trust, and address evolving public safety challenges.
