Course Description

The global workforce is undergoing a significant shift, with increasing participation among individuals aged 65 and older, alongside the hiring and rehiring of retired police officers to address staffing shortages. These trends present unique implications for law enforcement, particularly given the potential impact of cognitive decline on memory, processing speed, decision-making, emotional regulation, impulse control, and coordination. This session examines the role of neuropsychology in evaluating cognitive functioning across the lifespan and explores how cognitive abilities can be assessed and supported in both personal and professional contexts. It also discusses implications for hiring, employee retention, and fitness-for-duty evaluations within law enforcement agencies.
