Course Description

The MMPI-2-RF is frequently used in pre-employment psychological evaluations of law enforcement candidates, periodic evaluations of incumbent officers, evaluations of candidates for promotion, and fitness-for-duty evaluations. This intermediate-level workshop begins with an overview of the MMPI-2-RF, followed by a review of the literature available to guide its use in police and public safety assessments. Case studies will illustrate use of the MMPI-2-RF in these settings.

Course Objectives

Attendees will be able to: 1. Understand the rationale for developing the MMPI-2-RF. 2. Describe the MMPI-2-RF scales and materials. 3. Rely on the MMPI-2-RF literature when using the test in police and public safety assessments. 4. Rely on comparison groups when conducting police and public safety assessments. 5. Apply appropriate cutoffs when conducting pre-employment evaluations of police and public safety candidates. 6. Use the MMPI-2-RF when conducting fitness for duty evaluations of police and public safety employees. 7. Defend challenges to use of the MMPI-2-RF in police and public safety assessments.
