Course Description
This comprehensive two-day, 14 Credit Hour workshop is designed for licensed psychologists that take part in CDCR and CalHR’s preemployment screening process. It is designed to provide POST approved psychologists with the background and tools necessary in using and integrating the MMPI-2-RF and CPI in the assessment of candidates applying for peace officer and public safety positions. The first day of workshop will begin Dr. Corey and Ben-Porath providing an overview of the MMPI-2-RF, a discussion of special considerations when using the test in personnel screening context and an overview of research findings that are available to guide use of the test in this setting. The end of the first day and the beginning of the second day will involve Dr. Mike Roberts providing an overview of the CPI-434 and how to integrate results from the CPI selection report with other data sources in preemployment evaluations of peace officer candidates. A series of cases will be discussed to illustrate the interpretation of MMPI-2-RF and CPI findings of peace officer and correctional officer candidates and and how the CPI and MMPI-2-RF can be integrated into the preemployment selection process to help clinicians in their determination of applicant’s suitability.
