Course Description

Pre-employment Psychological Evaluations

Course Objectives

This course fulfills annual requirements for police psychologists who conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for law enforcement candidates. This course is intended provide participants with the most up-to-date laws and best practices for screening potential peace officers. On the first day of training, the attendees will learn how to utilize and interpret the California Psychological Inventory
(CPI) and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality lnventory-2-Restructured Format (MMPl-2-RF) Police Candidate Interpretive Report (PCIR) for pre-employment screening of law enforcement candidates. On the second day of training, attendees will learn about how to apply the laws as established by ADA, FEHA, and EEOC regarding pre-employment screening. The attendees will also learn about Appeals and how to apply Government Code 1031(f) and the POST Psychological Dimensions regarding law enforcement candidates.
Though this is a two-day training, attendees are allowed to attend either or both of the presentations.
