Course Description

Numerous studies conducted in the 1990's and early 2000's revealed that professionals – including psychologists and police investigators – accurately detected deception during interviews at levels barely exceeding chance. To make matters worse, a majority of these professional lie catchers believed that they possessed higher levels of accuracy than the lay public, a claim unwarranted given their lackluster performance in settings in which the ground truth could be determined.
