Course Description

Executive functioning is the capacity of a person to inhibit responses, shift plans in response to changing events, maintain and update working memory, and resist interference from distractions. The success of a first responder is highly dependent upon their ability to shift, update, and inhibit – a major reason why an employee of average intelligence may consistently outperform a highly-intelligent coworker. Although rarely administered in routine pre-employment evaluations, there are several easily-administered neuropsychological measures of executive functioning available. This workshop will provide practical information for psychologists interested in adding measures of executive functioning to their test battery.
