Course Description

This course is designed to enhance the report-writing abilities and to inform psychologists conducting psychological pre-employment psychological screening evaluations for CDCR on new regulations and developments relevant to report writing. This course will cover essential topics including the CDCR Peace Officer pre employment application & background investigation (BI) processes, and discuss other laws & regulations relevant to the application process. This course will also discuss the interview preparation process relevant to the psychological pre-employment screening process, the dispute resolution process, provide BI case samples to review, and discuss relevant topics of the SPB appeals process & related issues of the psychological interview & report writing process. This course will also review and discuss triaging the relevant data sources and how to address discrepant/divergent data/information in the report. Integral to the report writing process is how to focus on relevant details, procure additional details through follow up questioning, and time management for the prescreening process as well as how to integrate the MMPI-2-RF & CPI results to determine job-relevance of data. This course will also discuss the relevant and succinct recommendation sections of the report and strategies for ensuring POST compliance and suitability of all reports. Case examples will also be provided to integrate lecture topics lecture with determinable findings and examples.
