Course Description

This two-day workshop focuses on using the MMPI-3 and MPQ in preemployment evaluations of public safety candidates and occupational fitness-for-duty assessments. Familiarity with the MMPI-3 is assumed. In Part 1, foundational requirements for preemployment evaluations will be presented followed by an introduction to the recently published MPQ. Empirical findings on use of the MMPI-3 and MPQ in preemployment evaluations will be presented next, followed by an overview of the MMPI-3 Public Safety Candidate Interpretive Reports (PSCIRs) and the MPQ Police Preemployment Interpretive Report (PPIR).

Course Objectives

    _Discuss legal considerations in preemployment psychological evaluations. _Describe procedures and best practices in preemployment psychological evaluations of public safety candidates. _Describe the rationale, empirical foundations, and structure of the MPQ_Discuss the research literature available to guide use of the MMPI-3 and MPQ in preemployment psychological evaluations. _Describe the MMPI-3 Public Safety Candidate Interpretive Reports and the MPQ Police Preemployment Interpretive Report.
