Course Description

This advanced workshop provides an in-depth review of relevant law, practice standards, ethical traps, and principles for conducting fitness-for-duty evaluations of persons in high-risk occupations (e.g., police officers, teachers, transit drivers, health care providers). It covers all aspects of FFDEs, from the initial referral to the communication of findings. Particular attention is paid to the definitions of fitness; prophylactic or preemptive evaluations; distinguishing between disability, unfitness, fitness, and suitability; and report content.
