Course Description

This 3-hour workshop focuses on limitations of human judgment, the associated decision making errors that psychologists can make when providing assessment or treatment services, and strategies for minimizing these mistakes. Problems and phenomena reviewed include, but are not limited to, availability heuristics, primacy and recency effects, misestimation of covariation, failure to consider base rates, the impact of exotic or uncommon events, misperception of complex configurable analysis, and problems resulting from unstructured clinical judgment.
