Course Description
Many departments in public safety struggle with recruitment and hiring of diverse candidates. Different departments have sought ways to improve recruitment and focus on the hiring process in hopes to improve access and selection of qualified candidates. Recent questions have surfaced in regards to the effects ethnicity and gender play in the approach to or results of psychological measures. This presentation will focus on data and recruitment trends that have been observed and collected from different law enforcement agencies by the International Association Chiefs of Police. Comparing test results of different ethnicities and gender on psychological measure (MMPI-2, IPI, IPI-2, and WPT) will also be shared. This presentation will provide ideas for recruitment as well as provide information on how gender and ethnicity effect psychological measures.
