Course Description
A training for doctoral level psychologists addressing legal, ethical, and research related issues in public safety assessment
Course Objectives
PRESENTATION: Case Studies in Incorporating VA Disability Evaluation Data In Preemployment Psychological Assessments for Public Safety Applicants. 9:00am – 10:00am (1 hour)<o:p></o:p>

· Explain how VA disability data is appropriately incorporated into ADA compliant Individualized assessment.<o:p></o:p>
· Describe the process of VA disability assessment.<o:p></o:p>

PRESENTATION: A Review of External Validity Findings of the CPI and PAI Applicable to Public Safety Employment. 10:00am – 12:00pm (2 hours)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
· Describe what scales on the CPI and PAI are correlated with supervisor ratings and job outcomes among public safety applicants.<o:p></o:p>
· Explain how test predictors are affected by the situational demand of the test environment.<o:p></o:p>
· Apply these job relevant correlates to assessment data and report writing.<o:p></o:p>

PRESENTATION: CPI 260 Police and Public Safety Report: Brief Review 12:00pm – 1:00pm (1 hour)<o:p></o:p>

· Explain why the CPI 260 report can be interpreted the same as the CPI 434 report when screening police and other public safety job applicants<o:p></o:p>
· List the advantages of the new CPI 260 report features such as: interpretive statements for validity determination, bidirectional interpretive guidance, score-triggered scale descriptions and scale descriptions based on both community and special group norms<o:p></o:p>
· Apply appropriate test reports and interpretive guidance to assess public safety job applicants<o:p></o:p>

PRESENTATION: Writing Informative and Defensible Psychological Reports. 2:00pm – 3:00pm (1 hour)<o:p></o:p>

· Describe report features that add to the persuasiveness and defensibility of a finding.<o:p></o:p>
· Use appropriate methods to convey data underlying findings to the client in an efficient manner.<o:p></o:p>
