Course Description

The Psychological Screening Program offers bi-annual training to psychologists who have contracted with CalHR to provide pre-employment psychological screening evaluations for law enforcement applicants. Because of the nature of this work, it is critically important that interviewing psychologists are aware of the State and Federal laws as well as the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) regulations that impact the selection of peace officers. In addition, interviewing psychologists must be cognizant of the most recent research regarding issues, such as alcohol consumption, post-traumatic stress, and impression management, which can be highly relevant to peace officer selection.

Course Objectives

Pre-screening interviews for Law Enforcement; Alcohol Consumption in Law Enforcement Evaluations; Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
