Course Description

We will discuss real life (deidentified) ethical dilemmas that Police and Consulting Psychologists face when working within the Police and Public Safety arena in different capacities. The discussion will focus on identifying the specific ethical challenges that arise in various settings and situations that can happen working in a public safety setting. Using real life scenarios, the discussions will center on identifying the potential ethical and legal components, and addressing how best to address them with the parties involved. Understanding the aspects of how different disciplines, organizations and entities may rely on police and public safety psychologists may help better inform and prepare for how to manage these situations appropriately in the case they arise in the future.
