This seminar will cover the latest DSM-5® information. Understand the dramatic changes and the implications for all practitioners.
Course Objectives
•Discuss clinical, political, economic, theological, and other influences which bring about these changes in diagnostic classifications. • List at least 7 controversial changes to be included in the DSM-5®. • Describe how these changes and updates may affect your clinical practice. • Discuss ethical issues that mental health professionals may encounter as a result of this new diagnostic tool. • Explore changes in diagnosing children and adolescent mental health conditions. • Assess the nature of trauma disorders and how the DSM-5® will affect treatment. • Address the DSM-5® methodologies regarding medical disorders. • Identify significant changes regarding suicide,self-mutilation, dissociation and addiction disorders.
