POST Regional Training Consultant
Mario first came to POST in 1992 and was assigned to the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) In the Line of Duty Report as well as other related projects in the Training Program Services Bureau. He also worked in the Basic Training Bureau and finished in Training Delivery and Compliance as the Region 6 Training Consultant. He represented POST on the California Police Memorial Foundation for 15 years. His background and expertise is in the area of use of force, arrest and control tactics, effective manipulative skills training, use of baton, chemical agent, electric stunning devices, and other “non-lethal” law enforcement tools, and in personal safety and self defense. He also served as a canine handler for over eight years.
Mario retired from POST in June 2007 after 31 years in law enforcement. He and his wife moved to South Africa and worked in full-time ministry traveling to 19 different countries and serving on a leadership team until their season in Africa came to a close in February 2013. In March 2013, he returned to POST and is assigned as the Regional Consultant for Region 2.
Mario is 58 years old, is married, has four children, and five grandchildren. Mario has a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice: Law Enforcement from San Jose State University.
