Regular Basic Course - Modular Format
The Regular Basic Course - Modular format consists of three modules, one for each level of reserve peace officer. This document is intended to provide an overview of the prerequisites, testing requirements, content and minimum hourly requirements for each module. Refer to Commission Procedure D-1-3(e) for additional information.
Prerequisites
Module II
Successful completion of Module III* Current (within the last 3 years) in PC 832 Arrest and Firearms training requirements. Training must be current in conformance with the requirements of Regulation 1080 Passage of the POST-constructed Comprehensive Module III End-of-Course Proficiency Test within the preceding 12 months
* Individuals who have completed previous versions of the Level III and/or Level II Modules may enter the current Modules II and or I, as applicable.
Module I
Successful completion of Modules III and II Current (within the last 3 years) in PC 832 Arrest and Firearms training requirements. Training must be current in conformance with the requirements of Regulation 1080 Passage of the POST-constructed Comprehensive Module II End-of-Course Proficiency Test within the preceding 12 months

- POST-Constructed Knowledge Tests
- Learning Domains 2, 5, 31, 34, and 36
- POST-Constructed Comprehensive Module III Test (Assesses LDs 5, 15, 16, 20, and 39)
- Exercise Tests (as required)
Module II
- POST-Constructed Knowledge Tests
- Learning Domains 3, 6, 7, 8, 15, 16, 20 and 39
- POST-Constructed Comprehensive Module II Test (Assesses LDs 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 16, 20, and 39)
- Exercise Tests (as required)
Module I
- POST-Constructed Knowledge Tests
- Learning Domains 9, 10, 11, 12, 19, 25, 26, 28, 37, 40, and 43
- POST-Constructed Comprehensive Module I Test (Assesses LDs 5, 6, 7, 8. 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 37, 39, 40, and 43)
- Exercise Tests (as required)
- Scenario Tests
Requalification
Module III
- Repeat and successfully complete Module III, or
- Demonstrate continued mastery of Module III training material by passing the:
- POST-constructed Comprehensive Module III Test,
- PC 832 Course Arrest Methods Skills Test, and
- PC 832 Firearms Skills Test
Module II
- Repeat and successfully complete Module II, or
- Demonstrate continued mastery of Module II training material by passing the:
- POST-constructed Comprehensive Module II Test,
- PC 832 Course Arrest Methods Skills Test, and
- PC 832 Firearms Skills Test
Module I
- Repeat and successfully complete Module I, or
- Successfully complete a POST-certified Requalification Course
