The Computer Services Bureau (CSB) performs computer systems development, maintenance, and training in support of POST’s mission to serve California law enforcement.
The bureau’s 26 positions work under the direction of POST’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) to develop, maintain, and enhance EDI, the POST Website, Course Catalog, SB978, Training Reimbursements, Certificates, Profiles, Course Rosters, and other applications.
The bureau provides computer resources for the TMAS testing system and provides field support for all POST applications. The staff procures and maintains all IT assets, such as PCs, printers, mobile phones, tablets, etc. CSB also serves as POST’s liaison to the State of California’s control agencies regarding information technology.

Applications Development Unit
The Applications Development Unit creates, enhances, and maintains all web-based POST applications for both internal and field use (excluding TMAS and the Learning Portal).
From small scanner applications to the state-of-the-art web-based Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) System, applications development analysts and programmers provide analysis, design, programming, and testing services for optimum utilization of computer resources. The effective administration of the POST Database is a critical component of POST's enterprise. The growing EDI System allows agencies to transmit information to POST via the Internet. Applications Development staff provides system development services for incorporating new mandates or strategic plan objectives, such as the current project to improve the course certification process.

Technical Support Unit
The Technical Support Unit provides equipment, software, training, and support for all POST information technology, both at POST headquarters and for travelling staff. Several statewide applications, related to testing and training, are also supported by the unit:

Web, Design, and Data Unit
The Web, Design, and Data Unit create content for POST’s many websites, meetings, workshops, and required control agency filings. They manage mass communication tools and provide methods for POST program staff to reach their customers.
Using a modern content management system, programming tools, and graphics design and creation tools, the team works closely with POST's law enforcement experts to deliver necessary information and materials through the Web in an efficient and easy-to-use manner.

- Graphics is responsible for the design, production and overall look of graphics-related projects. This includes creating brochures, manuals, training and guideline publications, custom projects, and forms. Several of the POST forms used to conduct business are available electronically, with an eventual goal to provide all POST business forms online.
