Andrew Mendonsa joined POST in 2016, after an 18-year career with the Amador County Sheriff’s Office. During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, he served in several capacities, including as a supervisory investigator and as an administrative sergeant, where he oversaw the hiring and training for all Department personnel.
Andrew is a graduate of POST’s Supervisory Leadership Institute and comes to the region having previously served in POST’s Management Counseling/Special Project Bureau (MCPB). While a consultant with MCPB, Andrew was involved in many different projects, including the Innovations Grant Program and the Officer Wellness initiatives. Andrew has experience conducting management counseling studies and reviews for agencies throughout the state, with a particular focus on evidence-based practices, property and evidence reviews, and patrol workload evaluations.
Andrew earned a Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, where his studies focused on applied research in criminology and management, procedural justice, and the effects of ideology on officer discretion.
